The first 100 .COM domains

There's an interesting post over on Slashdot that links to a list of the first 100 .COM domains that were registered. You may be surprised on what is, and indeed what isn't, on the list.

Granted in 1985 the internet as we know it today was still a way off but it interesting to see that Xerox, HP, IBM, Sun, and Intel are all in the top 15. AMD are at 42, Apple at 64, Cisco at 73.

The one that may surprise you is Microsoft - not in the top 100 and not registered until May 1991. As they were still trying to push the internet as a closed-shop until late in 1995 it may not come as much of surprise.
