Three weeks to go

Three weeks to go until I'm a self-employed bod. Feels a bit weird knowing that on the 7th November I can get out of bed and stagger to work in the next room. Just got to remember that I am working and the TV downstairs cannot be watched all day.

Finished the second draft of the first chapter of a new book - Beginning ASP.NET 2.0 Databases yesterday. An update of the .NET 1.1 version that I wrote with Dan last year. It's slow going and I've got 8 out of 13/14 chapters at first draft and the first chapter at second draft. Deadlines have flashed past but hoping to get C7 (data binding) and C8 (writing to the database) first drafts by the end of the month. If I don't Beckie will start getting annoyed.

Managed to get free tickets to my first ice hockey match last night - Whitley Warriors against Dundee Stars. Had a really good time. Might have been better if I understood what icing was (the wonders of wikipedia this morning) but will go again. Maybe to the Newcastle Vipers as they're in the Elite League and the standard may be better. But if you want an entertaining night out then I'd recommend it.
