So several weeks (40 days to be precise) after getting my last first draft completed I've managed to get Chapter 8 across to my new editor today. Bearing in mind that I missed nearly three weeks of meaningful work when I was laid up from hospital it'll have taken me three weeks to get this chapter finished. I have got three second drafts done in that time so it's not as bad as it initially sounds. Deadlines are still flying past but I'll catch up to the re-re-revised schedule soon!
From looking at the schedule I've got to get first drafts of Chapters 9 and 12 as well as second drafts of Chapters 6 and Chapter 7 done by next Monday. Christmas Day might get in the way but at least I'll have an excuse for not talking to the rest of the family on Boxing Day.
What doesn't help is that it's party season at the moment. I was out on Saturday with the rugby guys and then managed to wangle a ticket for Coldplay and Richard Ashcroft on Sunday night so that was two whole days gone. Work Christmas Party on Thursday (which if last year is anything to go by it will be messy) and then supposed to be having a few quite beers in my local on Friday.
Oh well - must write more. Must write more.
